Colorful Paper Chains Make Sustainable Holiday Decorations

Christmas always brings back childhood memories for me. One memory that I love goes back to grade school. We learned to make paper chains using colored construction paper. We used those chains to decorate walls, Christmas trees, and anything else we could think of.

My husband and I gave up on Christmas trees when we got dogs, but I still wanted to use the one I made for this article so I hung it in the window.

Red and green are traditional Christmas colors, but if I remember correctly, I used to add yellow to represent the star on top of the tree. It made sense in my six-year-old mind.

Her article brought back memories of making paper chain decorations as a child, so I wanted to add it to the Sustainable Christmas series.

If you want to decorate with something that looks like a garland without the plastic, paper decorations and ornaments are a great substitution! The beauty of this project is that you can use any color combination you want.
