Riverdale is worth the shot

On this beginning of the year, I decided to start giving a chance to series that I usually don’t watch, animations, the ones with animals talking, and most important, to Riverdale.

The show tells the story of a small town, Riverdale, which is chocked by the murder of Jason Blossom. While the investigation goes on, the life of many adolescents are threatened, and a sea of lies starts to rise. And that is the story that Riverdale’s about.

My motivation to start watching Riverdale is a crossover theory that connects this series, with “The chillings adventures of Sabrina”. According to that, the two series could be connected, and the fact that both series have the same director (Roberto Aguirre), enforces that theory.

Being a huge Sabrina’s adventures fan as I am, I decided to give a chance to Riverdale, and I actually like it. In the first moment, I thought this series will have anything to do with magic and witches, like in Sabrina’s universe, but in fact, don’t have anything to do with it at all( at least, until season 2, that I’m still finishing).

The series seems to be like an ordinary series about adolescent’s drama, like Gossip Girl, but in fact, is far more than that. Riverdale mix mystery, secrets, and characters with deep personality, and escape from the regular dramas shows, which focus only on personal, and normally kind of futile, problems.

As I said, Riverdale has mystery, and also show to us that everything is political, including the universe of a small town. In a scenario with murders, gangs, police, corruption, and problems that don’t have any easy solution, as life is in fact.

If you’re looking for just dramas with adolescents (and if you are, I don’t have anything against it) Riverdale isn’t for you. But if you want some series which have questions of the adolescent life, plus a mysterious story, Riverdale really worth the shot.
