London is the capital of the UK in all ways — even in the aviation sector! According to Wikipedia, London airports handle over 60% of all the UK’s air traffic.

This traffic is not an affair of a single airstrip, it’s served by 6 major and several other smaller ones that serve a total of 14 domestic and 396 international destinations collectively.

Heathrow (LHR)

Connected to Great Britain’s motorway network, London Paddington Station, TfL Rail, and Central London locations, LHR of London Borough of Hillingdon with two runway strips and third being underway, is the largest of London’s airports and considered the main gateway into the UK for non-European visitors.

Gatwick (LGW)

The one that handles lesser flights than Heathrow but covers more destinations than any other UK airport and is the second-busiest single-runway airport in the world — Gatwick Airport is the heart of West Sussex travel.

Luton (LTN)

34 miles from the city center yet the quickest to reach– Luton to London is a 30-minute train journey.

Stansted (STN)

Set in leafy Essex countryside, this Airport is meant for the ones looking for budget flights. About 1.5 miles from Stansted Airport, you’ll find amusements like Hatfield Forest Reserve, Mountfitchet Castle, Bishop’s Stortford Escape Rooms, Golf World, and Cork House. There is so much to explore here.
